October APFT

It's been an awful week...

I've had two major programs due in two different classes between yesterday and this afternoon...they've been sucking up all of my free time...

To top it all off, I had an APFT this morning. I went to bed around midnight, crabby and ticked off because I was so frustrated with my program for today.

I woke up expecting the worst. As it turns out, I should take more APFTs pissed off...I ended up 1 pushup short of a 300...if I had only been two years younger, I would have had it...

Pushups : 74(gah!) up from 57.
Situps : 90(w00t!) up from 84.
2MileRun: 12:34 up from 12:28 (but my first lap/one mile time was under 6 minutes!)

I found that the key to kicking butt on pushups is just to not stop...your first full set is what matters the most. I did 30 on the first test, 40 this time, so I'll shoot for 50 on the next one.

Thanks to my APFT scores, I'm in a fairly good mood...despite the fact that in a little under 5 hours, I have to turn in a 100 point program that isn't going to completely work...

Anyways, I just wanted to post my good/frustrating news...one friggin pushup...

Hooah.

It's been almost 40 years since I've been to Leonard Wood. Be sure to start your adventure by taking the train to Newberg, MO. It's another world, sort of Appalachia without the charm. Then take the Army bus to the base, which I'm surprised is still standing. Don't be surprised if it doesn't feel like America. Good luck.

Don't get me wrong; I thank you for your service, and may God watch over you and bring you home safely. God bless America.

Nice 2 mile times- the best I have recently gotten was 13:30. Of course, there were hills and stuff, but that is probably close to what it would be anyway. Good luck with your training.

Thanks for the warning, Don. Everytime I tell someone that I'm going to Leonard Wood, their immediate response is, "Oh, Fort Lost-In-The-Woods!"

I've got a year+ in California afterwards, so I've just got to keep my eyes on the prize...

13:30's an excellent time, Dan, especially with hill and whatnot. I wish we'd take the test on a track rather than do a "campus circle" as is our current policy. The elevation changes aren't too bad, but the 90 degree turns from street to street can be killer.
